For my Writing role I was selected to be one of 8 members of the writing team and my role was to help develop the scripts with lilie and the other members of the team. For our first exercise for developing characters we were shown the workings of making a bible of a TV production, we needed to know how to create a 'Bible' because it helps everyone who is involved with the production understand every narrative aspect for continuity. After being taught how to create the scripts we were split into groups of two to create character backgrounds. We started off first as a group discussion to create the character of Joel, we created his backstory by starting off with his; family history, his occupation, where he lives, where he was educated etc. After the group all deciding on the Joel's character bio, we were split into groups of two to work on the other character bios, me and James Knight had created the character bio of the character of Harvey, Lilie instructed us to not add the reason's that the character were attending the bereavement counselling Even though this wasn't really touched down on in the final drafts of the script but me and James originally wrote Harvey to be a recent college graduate who wanted to go to a performing arts university in order to become a professional musician but he did not chase his dreams because his mother was not approving of him not having a secure career. When we created our characters Lilie had then asked us to pitch the character bios to the group so we could receive feedback and making sure everyone agreed upon the narrative decisions. After all discussing our character bios, we then moved on into new 2 person groups where we wrote up the characters bios in full which included our character arcs. Me and James Reece were chosen to write up the Bio for the character of Melinda using the rough character bio's from the group that produced her character. Me and James had worked together on the Arc that Melinda's lost loved one would be that her grandfather who happened to be her best friend has recently passed away and left her without any family. When characters were created we were asked to do some research into bereavement through various representations, I specifically looked into three films which helped me understand how to write characters and stories about bereavement, these films were 'Hunt for the wilderpeople', 'Three billboards' and 'Big Fish' I also looked into lyrical content from songs about bereavement also, I did this to understand more about grief by being able to discover ways in which people have gone through grief and the stories they tell through their music, looking into this really gave me more ideas on how people expressed emotion through grief. For my role on the overall physical scripts was, I wrote episode 1 of the show about the character of rosemary. After having three attempts at writing the script and receiving feedback from Lilie and members of the group with each draft, I and the other members of the group had finished our final drafts ready for lilie to edit them. When the writing process had finished we had received the final scripts my role on the writing team came to an end. I believe that when working on these scripts I felt that I fulfilled my role to the best ability I could, I researched into platforms that would help me understand bereavement to help feed into my dialogue and narrative ideas for the script, I followed all my feedback given to me by Lilie and my group and implemented it into my script, I completed my writing work on my deadlines and followed requirements needed to produce the script. So overall I think I fulfilled my role to the best of my Ability. After the writing process was finished and the crowdfunding campaign was done we then moved onto our pre-production so we then had to take on our production roles. My production role was production assistant this role specifically required me to carry out and perform tasks given to me by my production manager Ellie. The main task I was meant to Fulfil was organising the catering and supplies needed on set. Me and Matt Baker researched into catering companies that could supply us with food for every member of the cast on set. After calling a few catering me and matt had found a catering company that would supply us with hot meals for everyone on set for £150, I also had to do a few other tasks which required me and matt to have to go into the city and pick various products needed for the cast and crew. When pre-production was finished we had gone into filming the series. whilst we were filming my role was very unclear, I wasn't assigned any tasks on the day and when I did take part in the production I was only asked to either be the boom operator or to perform so taks where I had looked after the needs of members of the cast and crew. Overall as production assistant I did all the tasks I was required to do but I didn't feel I was utilised to the point where I think my role was valued or needed for the production, But if i did everything I was required ro do to fit this role then I suppose that I fufilled my role to the best of my ability.
